At the GigaOM Stucture Conference last week, Nimbus Data showed how they have successfully lead the market in providing Flash based storage options at an Enterprise scale for companies and the US Government.  It is the only sector of IT not to see performance improvements in the last 10 years.  Flash performance can increase I/O by many orders of magnitude changing performance dramatically, up to 86x faster performance, massive energy savings, and overall cost almost the same or less then traditional hard drives.
